The tale associated with the origin of the fair is about Arjun, the character of Mahabharata, the Holy Scripture. He quenched the thirst of Bhishma Pitamah at its last stage by creating the lake with his arrows (ban+ganga). The fair is not less then a grand event for every single entity of Rajasthan. In the months of May-April (Vaishakh), the fair takes place.
