

Gogaji fair is dedicated to Gogaji who was a saint and a renowned warrior-hero. For Hindu community he is called as Goga Veer whereas Muslims call him Jahar Peer. Some people consider Gogaji as snake- god because it is believed that snake bites and other diseases can be cured in this fair. His disciples are spread in various states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The fame of Gogaji can be estimated by huge number of people coming to attend the Gogaji fair every year. The villages of Rajasthan have established little sacred shrines to pay their remembrance to Gogaji. People coming from distant locations have profound faith in Gogaji and they are certain that their wishes will come true. His grave is constructed by marble and covered by a wall. The character of Gogaji is depicted terribly Trojan. In the images, he is riding a blue horse with a snake spiraled in his neck.
Mahmud Ghazni has expressed his respect for Gogaji by carving inscriptions at the main gateways. People visiting the fair rub incense at the marble grave and offer coconuts, 'batashas' (sugar drops) and cash. They sing chants to pay him tribute. The semblance us very hushed and pure because of the vibes generated by pure thoughts of devotees.
Nath priests are very famous as they symbolize the courage of Gogaji. They can be found dancing and swinging here and there in the fair. If anybody come to see them, it is considered very lucky. The Gogaji Fair in Jaipur goes on full swing for 3 days. It is normally held in the month of Bhadrapada.
