Advent of Rajputs

After the decline of Gupta dynasty, there came emptiness as it was a major turning point in the destiny of Rajasthan. With the rise of Gurjara Pratiharas in early 6th - 7th century, the conditions were much improved. The clan was called Rajputs who further categorized in two groups - the Suryavanshis (Solar race) and the Indivanshis (Lunar race). The families of Chauhans, Kachhwahas, Rathores and Sisodias were the derivatives of Rajput tribe.

The era of Colonialism

The dominating nature of East India Company had major repercussion on almost all the states of India. Rajasthan was one of the cities, where Rajputs were treated as puppets and ruling authorities were least concerned about public grievances. This is one of the painful segment of Rajasthan history.

The joy of independence

The World War II proved beneficial for India as Britishers could not fulfill their dreams of ruling on India. But India was facing other internal problem related to conflicts between Hindu and Muslim domination. To safeguard the city from Pakistan, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer were merged into Rajasthan.
