

City Palace (Jaipur)- The palace of surprises
Jaipur city is no wonder a princely city where a number of pulchritudinous palaces and forts are found. These heritage protecting properties attract tourists from all over the world to Rajasthan. One of the landmarks of Jaipur is City Palace Complex. Constructed by Rajput King Jai Singh II, the palace had to face many alterations done by the following successors. The palace doesn’t have any grand historical background, but the royal elegance and excellence of ancient archaeology are the dominating specifities of City Palace.
One can notice the reflection of Rajasthani and Mughal techniques and style in the architecture of palace. The patios, gardens and buildings are perfectly positioned and designed in such a way that it can enthrall anybody in a flash. Some very interesting complexes inside the premises of palace are Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal and Badal Mahal. A beautiful shrine Shri Govind Temple is devoted to Lord Krishna.
If we enter further into City Palace, the Mubarak Mahal, a creation of 19th century will mentally take you in the conference of King Maharaja Madho Singh II who built this complex. Through a magnificent gateway you are directed towards the Diwan-I-Khas (Hall of Private spectators). This hall is quite spacious and airy, exhibiting silver craft. The entire décor is this much breathtaking that it has been recorded in Guinness book of World Records! Similar to Diwan-I-Khas, there is another foyer called Diwan-I-Aam.
The Chandra Mahal is a hub of enticing paintings, lovely mirror work on ramparts and of course the flower arrangement. The King Sawai Man Singh II Museum is also a must see place where one can feel the emotional state of warriors as there lot many 15th century weapons, carpets and unusual objects. The Sukh Nivas (Hall of Rest) and Shobha Nivas(Hall of Beauty) are highly structured.
