





The Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary of Rajasthan is also known as Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park . It is one of its kind of avifauna sanctuary where thousands of atypical and very rare birds for example the Siberian Crane come in the sanctuary during wintry weather. More or less 300 species of birds eases up at the sanctuary. The park is also visited by a large number of ornithologists who prefer the time period of hibernal season. The park is stated as a World Heritage Site.
In the year of 1760, the Bharatpur Bird sanctuary was created by a King of Bharatpur who constructed an artificial lake and a dam in the park. At that time, it was frequently flooded which later on got resolved by the constructed dam by Suraj Mal. The royal princes of Bharatpur used to hunt animals and birds in the sanctuary.
Many aboriginal water birds and many migrant water birds are accompanied with commonly seen species of Sambhar, Chital, Nilgai and Boar. The park is systematically segregated into different segments of marshlands, scrubland and pampas. Being an epitome of wildlife conservation, the park is heavily visited by plethora of tourists.
The amazing Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is a second abode of Siberian Cranes which has ameliorated the fame of the park. In winter season, all the streams of Siberia gets frozen due to which the Cranes has to fly to other habitats in order to survive.
A wonderful experience can be taken with the awe inspiring fauna of the Bird Sanctuary of Bharatpur. The drifting birds of the sanctuary mostly fly from Central Asia .
The best time to visit the sanctuary is between October and February as the chirp of the most prominent migratory birds can be heard.
