The Darrah sanctuary is set amidst an area of around 250 sq. kms. In yester years, Darrah sanctuary was just a hunting ground of the former Kings of Kota. The sanctuary is made on all over mountainous landscape. It is situated at a distance of approximately 50 km from the city of Kota .

In 1955, the wildlife sanctuary was officially affirmed as a protected park. The antelopes which can be found round the year in the sanctuary include wolf, cheetah, nilgai, deer and wild boar. There is a Rest House at Darrah sanctuary loaded with high quality amenities and maintained by government. The most important thing to remind is that the sanctuary is open to general public only in the months of July to September and February to May.

With a nominal charge of just Rs 20 for Indians and Rs 100 for foreigners, this marvelous park can be seen. Everyday it opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm. The sight of Darrah Sanctuary can not be enjoyed so easily. The vacationer has to get an application form signed by the local forest ranger or a District Forest Office. Then only one can easily step into the sanctuary.
