





The Desert National Park is located in Jaisalmer where scarce and diverse fauna is found. The sanctuary came into existence in the year of 1980 and listed as one of the leading sanctuary of India . Astounding Sand dunes can be observed in the precinct of the park. The famous creatures to be found in the National park are desert fox, Bengal fox, and wolf and desert cat.
Fauna

Birdlife in this sandy habitat is colorful and fantabulous. People with a passion for birdlife make a visit in the sanctuary from distant location of the country. The types of birds which can be seen in the park include sandgrouse, partridges, bee-eaters, larks and shrikes. Demoiselle crane and houbara cam be seen in the season of winters. Other species of tawny and steppe eagles, long legged and honey buzzards, falcons and kestrels can also be observed. Out of all these kind of birds, avifauna is the greatest Indian bustard. The appearance of the bird is quite colossal as the physique is heavy which reflect grace and power.
Flora
The description of flora embraces stony rocks, dense salt lake bottoms and gigantic sand dunes. The landscape of the sanctuary is covered by Dhok, Ronj, Salai, Bear and Palm trees.
Wildlife is just incomplete without the mention of reptiles. Spiny tail lizard, monitor lizard, saw sealed viper, Russel's viper, Sind krait, toad agama and sandfish are found in plethora in the Desert National Park of Jaisalmer.
The months of October to March are considered the best time period to plan a trip to the sanctuary as most of the animals are visible during this time period.
